Johnny Hunt Sowers, 75

RICHMOND — Johnny Hunt Sowers, 75, of Richmond., passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Compassionate Care Center.

Mr. Sowers was born in Madison County on March 29, 1939, to the late Raymond and Arzelia Clines Sowers. He retired from the Davis H. Elliott Company as a line foreman. After retiring, he worked for Toyota and other automotive dealers as a driver, transferring vehicles between dealerships. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Helen Agee Sowers who preceded him in death on September 27, 2012.

Mr. Sowers is survived by: two sons, Vernon Lee “Tom” Sowers (Tammy) and Raymond Dale “Jack” Sowers (Carla), all of Richmond; his daughter, LaTrenda Robin “Poochie” Sowers of Jamestown, Kentucky; two brothers, Stant Sowers of Richmond and Floyd T. Sowers (Edith) of Ashland, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Tabitha Dawn Alvarado (Abraham), Beth LeAnn Ramsey (David), Ryan Dale Sowers, Tiffany Lynn Sowers, Brittany Lee Sowers, Zack Meade and John Derek Meade (Sarah); seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Hunt Alvarado, Kennedy Beth Alcorn, Christopher Sowers, Brooklyn Sowers, Josiah Sowers, Madisan Meade and Ciara Meade.

In addition to his parents and wife, he also was preceded in death by: two brothers, Richard C. Sowers and Vernon “Shorty” Sowers; and three sisters, Bert Montgomery, Jewell Dean Edington and Betty Mae Howard.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Sowers, Steve Sowers, Eugene Neeley, Ryan Dale Sowers, Zack Meade and Derek Meade.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Gray, John David Rollins, Darrell Rollins, Moe Rollins, Jerry Edington, Paula Clines, Sandra Clines Brandenburg, Kim Clines Smith, Johnny Clines and Clay Clines.
