Samuel Grant Jackson, 77, husband of Donna Day Jackson, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, at Baptist Health Lexington.
Samuel was born April 6, 1937, to the late Samuel Hord and Estelle Collins Jackson in Richmond, Ky.
He received his master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University, served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. He also worked as EKU Director of Central Stores and taught industrial electricity at Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, Missouri. Later he worked for the Kentucky Department of Education Division of Pupil Transportation in Frankfort.
Samuel was a member of First Christian Church. He loved to boat and be on the water and actually lived on the water for many years.
In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by: one brother, Merwyn Jackson; several nieces and nephews; and his adoptive family from Melbourne, Australia, Jane and Neil Capon, and their daughters, Brianna and Samantha Capon.
Funeral services for Samuel will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Vickers officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Earl Jackson, Michael Jackson, Malcolm Conlee, Steve Rhodus, Royce Peabody and Dave Cox.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
