Milton Dean Flannery, 70

RICHMOND — Milton Dean Flannery, 70, of Richmond, passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 3, 2014.

He was born in Fayette County, Ky., on Feb. 9 1944, the son of the late Price and Grace Durbin Flannery.

Dean was a manager for 24 years at Overhead Door of Lexington and later owned his own company, Milt’s Door Service. He also worked as a Hot Shot Hauler for Red-D-Arc Welder Rentals in Lexington.

He was a member of the Linden Street Baptist Church, a past master of Madison Lodge No. 183 F&AM of Kirksville and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He was a lifetime member and steam engineer with the Whitewater Valley Railroad in Connersville, Ind., serving on the board of birectors. He was a tractor enthusiast and was involved with many antique tractor and steam-engine clubs.

Survivors include: his wife, Devona “Twinkle” Cunliffe Flannery; one daughter, Deana Flannery-McDaniel (Chris), of Richmond; one grandson, Mason Dean McDaniel; numerous nieces and nephews.

Dean was the youngest of 13 children, with two sisters surviving, Mary Frances Chipley (Glenn) of North Carolina and Virginia Simpson of Missouri.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Barnes and Rev. Phillip Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Masonic Rites conducted at 8:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Flannery, Dicky Flannery, Vic Tamariz, Doug West, John McCord, Evan McCord, John Dulin and Tommy Dulin.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Wingate, Tyson Flannery, Ray Flannery, Raymond Tate and Aubrey Spivey.
