Josie ‘Marie’ Browning Todd, 88

RICHMOND — Josie “Marie” Browning Todd, 88, Richmond, Ky., passed away July 11, 2014, in Richmond.

She was born July 19, 1925, in Lexington, Ky., to Blaine and Anna Browning.

Ms. Todd had two brothers and five sisters: survived by Earl Browning; predeceased by Cecil Browning, Virginia Locker, Hazel Foster, Mae McWhorter, Marcella Carrier and Norma Jean Sumstad.

Ms. Todd graduated from Madison High School, Richmond, Ky., and then entered the secretarial field. Later as a homemaker, she enjoyed her various roles in service at the West Baptist Church, Oswego, N.Y., and various duties of service as a Gideons International wife. She also lived for a time in Texas and then for the last 20 years settled back in “Kentucky, which is my old Kentucky home,” she would say. One of her favorite positions was working for Wolf Wile Department Store, Lexington, Ky.

Ms. Todd enjoyed traveling throughout the United States visiting her large family. Her main focus and love was for her children and making sure they were established in life.

Ms. Todd married William “Bill” Todd (deceased) on March 2, 1945, in Richmond, Ky. From that union she is survived by two sons and five daughters: Gary Todd (Barbara), NY, David Todd (Mary Sue), NY, Doris Jeffries (David), KY, Marcia Loschiavo (Joe), VA, Cheryl Wood (Bob), NY, Lisa Pannell (Jim Bob), TX and Susan Gardner (Bryan), KY. In addition, Ms. Todd is survived by 18 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be: Calling hours, Monday, July 14, 2014, from 5 to 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 425 Eastern Bypass, Richmond, KY 40475, (859-623-4028). Immediately following at the same location at 6 p.m., there will be a memorial service. Graveside burial service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at the Lexington Cemetery, 833 W. Main Street, Lexington, KY 40508.
