James Alvin Day of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away at the age of 75 on December 31, 2012, at the Hospice Compassionate Care after a long illness and a courageous battle.
Jim was born in Richmond, Kentucky, on January 1, 1937.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Day Hodges; his grandparents, James Edgar and Mary Parkey Day; his uncles, Bill Day and Jim Ed Day, and his aunt, Nell Day Caldwell.
He was a man of faith with diverse talents, including carpentry, gardening, and managing businesses. He attended the Millersburg Military Institute, graduated from Madison Central High School, and attended Eastern Kentucky University.
Jim proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard for 17 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner for a number of years.
Professionally, he worked at Pattie A. Clay Hospital before becoming an administrator at Kenwood Nursing Home. He also served as a manager for both 76 Oil and British Petroleum. Most recently, he enjoyed his time as a bus driver for the Madison County Schools Transportation Department.
Jim is survived by his wife, Addie Riddell, and his loving family members including: Melody Day, Ashley Heinemeyer (Scott), Liberty Day, Joseph Thomas (Maru) and Joni Mendez (Jorge); Robert Day (Janice); Mildred Downey; Ruthie Breeding (Benny); his grandchildren including Tori McDowell, Natalie and Foster Heinemeyer, Daniel and Jorge Mendez Jr., Mia Ford, Shara Green, and Abbey Thomas; plus a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was also blessed with the love of many friends who continuously supported him.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on January 1, 2013, at Tates Creek Baptist Church where Jim was a long-time member of the church community. His funeral service will start the same day at 3 p.m., also at Tates Creek Baptist Church.
Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is charge of arrangements.

Entombment will take place 1 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Madison County Memorial Gardens.

She was retired from Brown & Williams Tobacco Company in Lexington. She was a faithful listener of the WLJC Gospel Broadcast and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Gary had been an employee of the former Begley Drug Company and was a retired employee of Car Quest Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.
