Barbara Ann French Cooper, 67

Kingston — Barbara Ann French Cooper, 67, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death her father, Edward Howland French. She is survived by her mother, Daisy Burns French; husband, William Cooper, MD; children Heather Cooper Ellis, Ashley Cooper Waechter (Kurt), Bethany Cooper Watt and William Edward Lee Cooper; grandchildren Meredith Grace Waechter, William Kade Waechter and Margaret “Maggie” Anne Watt; sister, Patti French Anderson (Rex); brothers- and sisters-in-law Robert Cooper, MD (Carol), Mike Cooper (Lucy), Rick Cooper, DMD (Lucy) and Mary Ann Cooper; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Barb began her career as a nurse at Central Baptist Hospital. She then became a mother and raised her four children while being involved in multiple charities.

She was active in the parent teacher association at her children’s schools, served as a board member at Possibilities Unlimited, she was on numerous boards of the Fayette County Medical society, the Blue Grass Charity Ball Board, served at Crestwood Christian Church, was active in the Lexington Junior League of Lexington, was vice chairwoman and then chairwoman of the Lexington Junior Horseshow, was a member of the Common Cents Investment Club, and business owner of The Best of Lexington visitor’s guide. She was a loving, generous, kind and compassionate grandmother, mother, wife, sister and friend. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and brought Barb much happiness.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Barb’s memory to Hospice,, or a charity close to your heart.

Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014. A memorial service is 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 E. Main St., Lexington, Ky.
