RICHMOND — Melvin Preston Moreland, 76, of Richmond, the loving husband of Pamela Wells Moreland, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at his home.

He was born May 27, 1937 in Powell County, to the late Carl Fleming and Ella Bryan Morton Moreland.

He was a computer programmer for the Department of Defense, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith.

Other than his wife Pamela, he is survived by: three sons, Bryan Moreland of Leesburg, Ga., Robert (Kim) McKinley and David (Sirena) McKinley, both of Richmond; two daughters, Lisa Ann Moreland and Tammy Lynn McKinley, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Anne Rambo; seven grandchildren, Brent Moreland, Mallory Moreland, Tiffany McKinley, Tyler McKinley, Bryan Moreland Jr., Maddison McKinley and Savannah McKinley.

He also is survived by two great grandchildren, Ryder McKinley and Elsa Moreland.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Hiatt and Oma Moreland and six brothers.

Funeral services for Mr. Moreland will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
