Charleen Ann Mayzes, 67

RICHMOND — Charleen Ann Mayzes, 67, widow of Frank James Mayzes, died Friday, April 5, 2013, in the Compassionate Care Center.

Charleen was born October 10, 1945, the daughter of Charley and Rosemary I. Walter Walker. She was of the Catholic faith. Charleen was a very creative and artistic individual. She was an award-winning floral designer and also taught her passion for arranging to college students at Eastern Kentucky University and also Lexington Community College. She sewed and crocheted many afghans and scarves. Charleen was very inspirational, spunky and feisty. She will be remembered most for her love and affection for others, and for her giving and generous heart.

In addition to her mother, Charleen is survived by: two daughters, Paula A. Smith and Rosemary Ann Francis Mayzes (David B.Huesman); two brothers, Chuck Walker (Brenda), Westland, Mich.; and Brian Walker (Johnia), Winchester, Ky.; special friends: Debbie Reynolds, Kay Horn, Gina Howard, Mary Disney,and Sherryl Johnson, many nieces and nephews and close Mayzes family; as well as her beloved animals, Lucy, Sadie, Rocky, and Autumn.

Funeral services 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 248 S. Main St., in Winchester, with Father Frank Brawner officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home in Richmond.

Pallbearers will be: Chuck Walker, Brian Walker, Kenny Walker, Jared Walker, Jayd Walker, David Huesman, Michael and Kim Shollack, and Mickey Wilson.
