Elizabeth Short, 90

RICHMOND — Elizabeth Broaddus Short, 90, widow of Earlene Short, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

She was born on October 21, 1922, in Madison County, to the late Ben and Ida B. Howard Broaddus. Mrs. Short was a retired sales clerk at J.C. Penney after 39 years of service. She also worked as a bus monitor for the Madison County School System, and was a member of the Antioch Christian Church.

Survivors include her son: Donald Wayne Short (Carol); one sister: Wilma House; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son: Shelby Dean Short; and two sisters: Helen Gabbert and Lee Dale Broaddus; one brother: William Ray Broaddus.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Antioch Christian Church with Bro. Charles Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Broaddus Cemetery in Baldwin, KY.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday evening at the church.

Pallbearers will be: Steve Short, David Short, Kevin Jones, Brian Jones, Rodney Dixon and Randal Webb.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Nancy Young, Gypsy Jones, Martha Perkins, Darrell and Lois Fritz, Geraldine Carter, Margaret & Homer Curry, her co-workers from J.C. Penney and the members of the Sonshine Sunday School Class.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Hospice Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY.
