BEREA — Myrtle H. Mason, 89, of Fentress Lane, Berea, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, in the Berea Health Care Center.

Myrtle was born in Manchester, Ky., to the late Clark and Julia Blair Hylton.

She was a member of the Eastern Star, Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Silver Creek Homemaker’s Club. Myrtle was a former secretary for St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, and she and her husband ran Mason’s Pay Lake for many years. Upon selling the lake, she and her husband focused on their farming operation at Twin Hollow Farm until retirement.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, William Isaac Mason; an infant daughter, Betty Jean Mason; five brothers, Elihu, Cecil, Hiram, Clifford and Carlos Hylton; and two sisters, Dixie Holt and Tootsie Gadd.

Myrtle is survived by: her daughter, Lois Himes; one sister, Pauline Pigg; two grandchildren, Scott (Donna) Himes and Ray (Valerie) Himes; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Himes, Ashley (Luke) McCauley, Mason Himes, Maria Jade Himes and Max Himes. She is also survived by a great-great-granddaughter, Neeley Spring McCauley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 13, 2013, at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Kays officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Scott Himes, Ray Himes, Larry Goodrich, George Goodrich, Leon Smith and Kenny Hylton. Honorary bearers will be the great- and great-great grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Berea Health Care Center Activities Fund.
