Formerly of Panola — Deamie Murphy Rose, 90, formerly of Panola, the widow of Cecil Rose,

died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in Richmond, Va.   

Mrs. Rose was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Madison County the

daughter of the late James Turner and Martha Ellen Bryant Murphy. Mrs. Rose was a member of Panola Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a country girl at heart. She loved to sing, cook, dance, fish and garden. In 2008, Mrs. Rose moved to Hopewell, Va., where she attended Broadway Baptist Church. She was a kind person, and she had the ability to touch people’s hearts.

She is survived by five grandchildren: Harry Lee Estes, Jr (Vola),

Billie Carol Rollings (Graham), Betty Ruth Dussor (John), Charles Gregory Estes, and Kimberly Renee Yeatts (Ben); five step-grandchildren: Randall Moberly, Michael Cain, Angela Clarke, Tony Harris, and Pedro Hager; three step-daughters: Shirley Anderson, Rita Medlock (Buddy), Judy Hager (Raymond); eighteen great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by

two sons: Tommy Long, and Jessy Vernon Casey; two daughters: Jane Long Meyers and Leona Carolyn Whitley; and one grandson: Lloyd Isic, Jr.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, with Bro. Phillip Ronk officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons of Mrs. Rose.
