Robert Paul Burton, 54

RICHMOND — Robert Paul Burton, 54, of Richmond, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 31, 2013, after arrival at Baptist Health-Richmond.

He was born September 23, 1958, in Richmond, Kentucky, and received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University.

Robert was a telecommunicator with Kentucky State Police Post 7 in Richmond and had also served in that position with Richmond 911 for 14 years. He also had worked as news and sports director for WMCQ radio, and as an on-air personality for WLAP-AM and WCBR of Richmond. He was a member of Big Hill Christian Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Dottye Elizabeth (Etherington) Burton of Richmond; two daughters, Amanda Siobhan Burton Durham and Jeanna Raye Burton, both of Richmond; his parents, Robert R. and Iva Jean (Stocker) Burton of Richmond; one sister, Karen Burton of Richmond; and grandson, Jackson Stuart.

He also leaves: his mother and father-in-law, Tom and Anna Etherington; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Becky Etherington, Carolyn Etherington Hornback (John), Patti Etherington, Tom Etherington (Kim), Janet Etherington Short (Bill) and Jim Etherington (Maria); three aunts, Phyllis, Nancy and Judy; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Service for Robert will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Kentucky State Police Chaplain David Norris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be KSP Post 7 Troopers.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles M. Broaddus, Connie J. Taylor, Jennifer L. McCracken, Darrell G. Melton II, Nehemiah J. Wilkinson, Crystal D. Lamb, Bethany L. Casey, Dana L. Murphy, Dewey L. Burchfield, Wayne Ramsey and Jeff Kidd.

Memorial donations may be made to Kentucky State Police Trooper Island Camp, 919 Versailles Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.
