Betty Lyen Pryse, 83

RICHMOND — Betty Lyen Pryse, 83, of Richmond, the widow of Henry F. Pryse, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.

She was born January 10, 1930, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, to Homer T. and Gertrude Burford Lyen, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Harrodsburg High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Transylvania University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was a homemaker and had taught at Lancaster High School. Mrs. Pryse was of the Episcopal faith.

She is survived by: one son, Joe F. Pryse and his wife Beth Worell, of Boston, Massachusetts; and two grandchildren, Alex and Julia. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, S/Sgt William (Tom) Pryse (ret.).

A graveside service for Mrs. Pryse will be conducted at noon Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Richmond Cemetery, where interment will follow. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475, or to the Salvation Army, 1675 East Main Street, Richmond, KY 40475.
