Wallace Edward ‛Little Wally Abney Jr., 26

RICHMOND — Wallace Edward “Little Wally” Abney Jr., age 26, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Little Wally loved NASCAR racing and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Abney is survived by: his parents, Judy (Randy) Lake of Berea and Wallace Edward Abney Sr. of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; his sisters, Reona Damrell, Emily (Mike) Vaughn and Samantha VanWinkle, all of Berea, Ky.; his brothers, Joseph (Valerie) Lake of Fayetteville, N.C., John David Lake of Richmond, Ky., and Casey Lake of Berea, Ky.

Also surviving areL his maternal grandmother, Shirley VanWinkle of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; his paternal grandfather, Cecil Abney of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; step-grandparents Robert Jr. and Janie Lake of Berea, Ky.; along with several aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.

Little Wally was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Reo VanWinkle, and his paternal grandmother, Vivian Abney.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Abney officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery of Rockcastle County. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service.

    Gary Lee Winburn, 69, of Richmond, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
    A native of Richmond, Kentucky, he was the son of Marcus and Johnetta Arch Winburn, both of whom preceded him in death. Gary had been an employee of the former Begley Drug Company and was a retired employee of Car Quest Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richmond.

    Joyce Rhodus, 74, passed away Friday morning, April 11, 2014, at her home.
    She was born March 23, 1940, in Garrard County, Kentucky, to the late Jasper and Mary Stella Moore Prewitt.
    Joyce was a graduate of Buckeye High School, class of 1959. She retired from the Madison County Detention Center as a deputy jailer. She loved raising flowers, working puzzles and watching UK basketball.
