Carl Lakes, 72
Carl Lakes, 72, of Dreyfus, husband of Joyce Lutes Lakes, died Sunday evening in his home.
Mr. Lakes was born June 2, 1936, in Madison County, the son of Ursle Rose Lakes and the late William Kermit “Kerm” Lakes. He was a former employee of the Kentucky Department of Highways and was retired from the Madison County Board of Education. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Carl was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he loved to trade pocketknives.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Lutes Lakes; his mother, Ursle Rose Lakes of Dreyfus; one daughter, Devonna Hensley Abner (Aaron Paul) of Richmond; one brother, Robert Owen Lakes of Berea; one sister, Glenna Gray of Dreyfus; one grandson, Alec Vaughn Hensley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: a sister, Iva Jewell; and a grandson, Harris Scott Hensley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark McGuire officiating. Burial will follow in the Bark Road Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Paul Bicknell, Mark Gray, Mickey Lutes, Lester Gooch, Danny Baker and Shane Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hancock, Larry Chrisman, Doyle Webb, Harold Ruble and Ken Edmonson.
