Hugh York, 75, passed away Friday evening, May 8, 2008. Mr. York was born February 27, 1933, to Samuel Lincoln and Betty Jane Creech York, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a retired carpenter and electrician, and was of the holiness faith. He enjoyed helping his friends, family and neighbors by doing odd jobs and fixing things around their homes.
Mr. York is survived by: two sons, Steve L. York (Bonnie) of Richmond and Keith York of Berea; four brothers, Oscar, Gilbert, Willy B. and Robert York; two sisters, Marilyn Short and Helen McGuire; and two granddaughters, Brittany Michelle Marcum and Katelyn Francis Isaacs; four stepchildren, Joe Bowlin (Gayle), Michael Bowlin (Velora), Sammy Hackler (Robin) and Tammy Lyons (James); and three stepgrandchildren, Robert Mink, James Mink and Randall Lamb.
In addition to his parents, Mr. York was preceded in death by: his wife, Wilma York; two brothers, Leonard and Paul York; and one sister, Emma Jane Mosely.
Funeral services for Hugh York will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Roe Gene Haynes, Curtis Combs, Rodney Johnson, David Wright, Bill Wright, Tommy Short, Billy Short and Denny Young. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.
