Victoria Johnson Gobbick was born January 17, 1919, the 11th child of the late Henry and Anna Johnson in Glenwood, Minn. She died Wednesday evening, May 7, 2008, at the age of 89, in the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. She was married May 6, 1943, to the late Arthur Gobbick.
She is survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Lou Rosa; caring and loving granddaughters, Olivia Rosa and Melanie White; grandson-in-law, Rob White; loving grandson, Marty Sowder of Merrillville, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Elijah Sowder, Victoria Sowder and Zachary White; and was loved by many nieces and nephews.
She left the town of Glenwood going to Minneapolis, Minn., and then settling in Chicago, before moving to Richmond. Those who knew her could not get over the energy she had. She also was a wonderful homemaker, cook and baker.
She was active at the Richmond Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Hampton Way and was still going to that Kingdom Hall up until three weeks ago on Sunday. She was an avid reader of her Bible and the Watchtower and Awake.
We would like to thank Dr. Hanan Budeiri, and the staff of the Hospice Compassionate Care Center and Telford Terrace. Also Dr. Tom Cervoni for the concern he showed this past week and her dentist, Dr. Rodney Coleman, who saw her at Telford. All these doctors are wonderful caring individuals.
Victoria had a long, good, productive life. This wonderful lady, mother, gram, great-grandma and aunt and friend, will be greatly missed by all who knew and cared about her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Richmond Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 661 Hampton Way, Richmond, KY 40475, or Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
At this time no arrangements are planned.
