LITTLE LEAGUE: Richmond National rolls into the finals

RICHMOND — Devin Ecklar provided the offensive spark that carried Richmond National All-Stars into the championship game of the District 3 Tournament.

Ecklar hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Richmond National went on to pick up an 11-2 win over Richmond American Monday at Lake Reba.

Richmond National advances to the title game and will face Eastern American at 7 p.m. today.

Richmond National scored four times in the top of the first inning. Stephen Golson had an RBI single, before Ecklar went deep with two runners on.

Richmond National went on top 5-0 in the second when Ben Snapp delivered an RBI single.

Richmond American got a run in the bottom of the second when Bennie Hurt singled and scored on an error.

Richmond National added three more runs in the fifth. Snapp singled, Golson had an RBI single and Cameron Craig ripped a two-run single.

Richmond National added three more runs in the sixth.

Jacob Beck started on the mound for Richmond National, while Tyler Santiago started for Richmond American.

9-10 year-olds

The Richmond National All-Stars suffered a 13-3 loss to Eastern American Monday at the District 3 Tournament in Lawrenceburg.

Richmond National finishes pool play 2-1 and will advance to play in the semifinals on Wednesday.

The Richmond American All-Stars (1-1) will wrap up pool play today against Anderson County (0-2) in Lawrenceburg.

The Richmond American All-Stars need to win to advance to the tournament semifinals.
