The Madison Southern volleyball team bounced back from a tough loss earlier in the week with a very solid all-around performance Thursday at home against Western Hills.
The Lady Eagles (8-6) won three tough, hard-fought sets to claim a 3-0 victory. Southern won by scores of 25-23, 25-19 and 25-21.
“We always play them close,” Southern coach Brian Grant said of Western Hills. “That’s probably the best three sets we’ve played all year. They kept their energy up and played as a team.”
Southern missed only two serves all match and got good solid performances off the bench.
After closing out a tight first set, the Lady Eagles jumped out to a 15-12 lead in the second set. Western Hills pulled even, but Southern responded, getting a kill and a block from Jordan Adams and kill by Sara Castle to wrap up the set.
Southern trailed 15-10 in the third set, but rallied once again, getting solid serving from Brittany Gipson.
The Lady Eagles are set to return to action Tuesday at Clark County.
LCA 3, Central 0
The Madison Central volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday at home against Lexington Christian Academy.
The Lady Indians fell, 3-0.
LCA won by scores of 25-7, 25-23 and 25-15.
Central is now 6-1 on the season.
The Lady Indians are set to return to action Thursday at Montgomery County.
Estill County 3, Berea 0
The Berea Community volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss Thursday at Estill County.
The Lady Engineers won by scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-20.
The Lady Pirates (2-12) are set to return to action Monday at home against Adair County.
