On Tuesday afternoon, Larryn Brooks was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Later in the day, the former Madison Central standout hit the court and put together another impressive performance.
Brooks scored a team-best 25 points as Indiana University picked up an 85-80 win on the road over Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne. The freshman also had six assists, four rebounds and was 13-of-15 from the free throw line in 37 minutes of action.
Led by Brooks, Indiana is 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2010.
The Hoosiers scored 80-plus points in both games, marking the first time they’ve reached that total in back-to-back games since 2007.
The freshman point guard made an impressive Saturday against Oakland in Bloomington, Ind. She led all scores with 19 points in an 85-55 win and added four assists, a team-best seven rebounds and a blocked shot.
Brooks was 6-of-10 from field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
The Central graduate helped Indiana’s offense to its highest scoring total in more than four years and its highest point total in a season opener since 2002.
The Hoosiers are set to return to action Friday at Indiana State.
