SOCCER: Lady Spartans champs again

RICHMOND — The B. Michael Caudill Middle School girls soccer team won its third-consecutive district soccer title Friday night, defeating Foley in the championship game.

The Lady Spartans defeated the Lady Warriors in penalty kicks.

The game ended regulation play in a 2-2 tie.  The match then proceeded to two five-minute overtime periods under golden goal rules.

Neither team scored in either overtime period so the match was decided by penalty kicks. Each team connected on three out of five kicks, so each team had to then select five new players to kick from the mark under sudden-death rules.

Sarah Olmsted of Caudill connected on the district-clinching kick.
