H.S. SOCCER: Berea falls to Bryan Station, 4-2, Dunbar downs Lady Indians

RICHMOND — The Berea Community Pirates (4-8) got a pair of goals from Austin Warford but didn’t quite have the firepower to take down Bryan Station on Wednesday at home.

The Defenders prevailed 4-2, but not without a fight.

The game was tied 1-1 at the half, and the Pirates had a 2-1 second-half lead after Warford’s second goal of the night.

But Bryan Station came back to pick up three goals in the game’s final 20 minutes to pull out the victory.

The Pirates will close out their home schedule Tuesday in a Senior night matchup with Garrard County at 6:30 p.m.

Dunbar 4, Lady Indians 0

The Lady Indians got off to a rough start Wednesday on the road against Dunbar.

Madison Central allowed a penalty kick goal and went on to suffer a 4-0 loss in Lexington.

The Lady Bulldogs (5-8-3) scored all their goals in the first half.

The loss marks the first time Central (12-3-1) has lost back-to-back games this season. It was also the first time this season that the Lady Indians had been shutout.

Dunbar got two breakaway goals later in the first half.

Emily Willoughby created some good scoring chances for Central.

The Lady Indians are back in action Monday at home against Lincoln County.
