The Madison Central girls golf team defeated Clark County and Mason County Monday in a match at the Winchester Country Club.
The Lady Indians shot a 179, beating out Mason County by five shots. Clark County shot a 193.
Tristyn Nowlin shot a 39 to lead Central. Mackenzie Neal shot a 43, Kailey Boyer shot a 47, Mattie Jo Neeley shot a 50, Paige Stamper shot a 53 and Reagan Clark shot a 57.
The Lady Indians are set to return to action Saturday at the Henry Clay Invitational.
Nowlin takes second
The Madison Central and Madison Southern girls golf teams participated in the Boyle County Invitational Saturday in Danville.
Central’s Tristyn Nowlin shot a -1, 71, and finished second. Taylor County’s Ellen Kehoe took medalist honors with a -3, 69.
Shelby County took the title with a 313 total score in the 18-team field.
Central finished ninth with a total score of 370, while Southern finished with a score of 416.
Central takes 11th at Battle of the Bluegrass
The Madison Central boys golf team took 11th place Saturday at the third-annual Battle of the Bluegrass at the Cardinal Club in Simpsonville.
The Indians finished with a total score of 331, +43, and finished in a tie with Estill County and North Oldham. St. Xavier shot a -1, 287, to take the team title.
Burgess Clark shot a +9, 81, and tied for 39th, but he provided the individual highlight of the event for the Indians. Clark had a hole-in-one with a 6-iron on a 213-yard par 3.
Carter Skipworth had the best individual finish for Central, shooting a +2, 74. He finished 13th.
Zach Miller was 66th (+14), Trent Renfro was 81st (+18) and Jordan Adams was 93rd (+32).
