LadyH.S. SOFTBALL: Woodford rallies late against Lady Indians

RICHMOND — The Lady Indians were just one out away from picking up a victory on the road over a tough 11th Region opponent in Tuesday’s season opener.

But, they weren’t able to finish things off.

Woodford County scored five times in the seventh inning and topped Madison Central, 11-10, in Versailles. The Lady Yellow Jackets won the game on a bases loaded walk-off triple.

Central had a 5-0 lead in the third and was up 10-6 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Emily Frakes led the way offensively for the Lady Indians, going 4-for-4 with two singles, two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Sarah Arthur was 2-for-4 with two singles, an RBI and a run scored. Makenzie Wilder was 2-for-4 with a single, double and two RBIs. Samantha Walzyk was 1-for-2 with a single and an RBI and Morgan Elliston was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks.

Audrey Wade had an RBI and reached on an error.

Wilder started in the circle and went 6-plus innings, allowing nine hits, five earned runs and six walks while striking out two. Courtney Patton came on in the seventh and allowed three earned runs.

Central is set to return to action Friday at home against Somerset.
