OVC BASKETBALL: FORMER COLONEL DINUNNO SIGNS WITH BULGARIAN TEAM

RICHMOND — Former Eastern Kentucky University’s men’s basketball player Mike DiNunno has signed to play professionally in Bulgaria.

DiNunno will play for BC Beroe in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. BC Beroe is a member of the Bulgarian National Basketball League (NBL), the nation’s  highest professional level.

As a senior at EKU last season, DiNunno was chosen first-team NABC Division I All-District 19 and first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference.

The  Chicago native led the Colonels in 3-pointers, assists and steals. He finished second on the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game, behind only curent Colonels point guard Glenn Cosey.

He was among the OVC leaders in seven catagories last season.

DiNunno was third in steals, assists-to-turnover ratio (3rd), free throw percentage (4th), assists (5th), 3-pointers made (5th), three-point field goal percentage (8th) and scoring (10th).

After a week off, he 2013-14 Colonels return to action on Saturday when they  take on North Carolina State. The game can be seen on ESPN3 beginning at 8 p.m.
