H.S. TRACK: Model, Berea athletes shine at Bluegrass Conference meet

RICHMOND — Track and field athletes from Berea Community and Model Laboratory School competed Thursday in the Bluegrass Conference Championship Meet at Eastern Kentucky University.

Burgin took both the boys and girls titles, easily beating out Nicholas County.

Model was fourth in the girls competition, finishing with 60 points, and was fifth in the boys competition with 65 points.

Berea was fourth in the boys competition, 77 points, and was fifth in the girls competition, 46 points.

Model’s Darrian Bott had the best performance of the local athletes. The junior took first place in the 100 meter dash and the long jump and was part of two first-place relay teams — 4x100 and 4x200.

Model’s Janie Ward took first place in the 400 meter run and Berea’s Hannah Haycraft won the high jump competition.

Model senior Hannah Nnoromele was third in the 200-meter dash.

For the boys, Model Jason Dong was second in the 400 meter dash and Tanner McVey was second in the 300-meter hurdles. Berea’s Lincoln Satterthwaite was second in both the 1,600 meters and the 800 meter dash and Raymond McKinney was second the 3,200 meter run.
