H.S. SCHOOL SOCCER: Model, Southern drop road games.

RICHMOND — The Model Laboratory Lady Patriots (5-11-2) suffered a tough 1-0 loss on the road Wednesday to Paris.

The Lady Greyhounds scored the only goal of the game came on a free kick from 40 yards out in the second half.

Model coach Mike Bailey said he was disappointed that his team didn’t show much fire all night in the “very lackluster performance” against the Lady Greyhounds.

Model’s only scoring opportunity came on a penalty kick by Ruby Smith, but the attempt came up empty.

The Lady Patriots close out their regular season at home today at 5:30 p.m. against Somerset.

Lafayette 2, Lady Eagles 1

The Madison Southern Lady Eagles (6-9-2) fell 2-1 to Lafayette (6-12-3) Wednesday on the road in their regular-season finale.

The Lady Generals got on the board first with a goal mid-way through the first half. Southern pulled even with 15 minutes left in the half on a goal by junior Rachel Ramey.

But even though the Lady Eagles outplayed Lafayette for most of the second half, the Lady Generals were able to get the go-ahead goal in the second half for the win.

Southern coach Katy Cress said she likes the way her team is playing heading into next week’s district tournament.

“I felt like we really played well tonight. I felt like it was pretty evenly played if not a little more dominant on our part except the fact that they got more shots on goal in the second half than we did,” Cress said.
