H.S. BOYS SOCCER: Central rolls to 8-0 win over Corbin; Southern tops Sayre

RICHMOND — The Madison Central boys soccer team defeated Corbin, 8-0, Thursday on Senior Night at Bellevue.

Senior Austin McAlister quickly scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of play, followed by two goals within a minute of each other by senior Frankie Cooke.

In the second half, Cooke scored again for a hat trick. Senior Brent Walls scored, then Cooke sent a pass to senior Daniel Parke for another goal.

The final goal was scored by senior Evan Roberts, with an assist by Cooke.

Senior Zach Brock, nursing a hamstring injury, got the shutout in goal. Brock, a former goalie while at Madison Middle, had four saves.

The Indians are set to return to action Tuesday against Madison Southern in the opening round of the 44th District Tournament at Madison Central.

Southern 6, Sayre 1

The Eagles wrapped up the regular season with a 6-1 win at home Thursday over Sayre.

Senior Salvador Quintana scored twice as Madison Southern (13-4) picked up its fifth-straight win.

Lucas Reynolds scored less than four minutes into the game, then Quintana and Elijah Sexton added goals as the Eagles went into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Southern added two quick goals in the second half.

Quintana, Alex Sipple and Caleb Holbrook all scored in the final 40 minutes.

Tyler Gipson had a pair of assists.

Sayre’s only goal came on a penalty kick.

Southern is set to return to action Tuesday against Madison Central in the opening round of the 44th District Tournament.

Model 2, Bryan Station 2

The Patriots had an early lead, but had rally late to avoid a loss Thursday in Lexington.

Ray White scored in the 75th minutes to help Model earn a 2-2 tie with Bryan Station. The Patriots (12-2-2) are unbeaten in its past five games — 3-0-2.

Noah Valencia gave the Patriots the lead in the seventh minute on an assist from Andrew Wylie. Bryan Station scored two goals before the half to take a 2-1 lead.

White’s goal was the first for the senior halfback in his four-year varsity career.

Model is set to return to action Tuesday against Berea in the opening round of the 44th District Tournament at Madison Central.

Somerset 8, Berea 0

The Pirates wrapped up the regular season with an 8-0 loss Thursday at Somerset.

Berea Community (2-15-1) is set to return to action Tuesday against Model in the opening round of the 44th District Tournament at Madison Central.
