H.S. SOFTBALL/BASEBALL: Lady Indians drop a pair

RICHMOND —

East Jessamine 15, Berea 0

The Lady Jaguars picked up 15-0, three-inning victory Thursday over Berea Community in Nicholasville.

Haylee Hamm, a junior, pitched a perfect game for East Jessamine.

Berea (4-13) is set to return to action today at home against Jackson County. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

High School Baseball

Garrard County 8, Berea 3

The Pirates couldn’t overcome nine errors and suffered a 9-3 loss Thursday at Garrard County.

Gabe Long pitched five innings and did not allow an earned run, while striking out eight. The junior also hit a home run for Berea (15-8).

The Pirates took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Devin Strong singled and came around to score.

Garrard County had a 3-2 lead in the fifth, but Berea battled back to tie the game. Neil Claytor walked and Trey Terrill later put down a perfect suicide squeeze.

Daniel Wilkerson came on in relief of Long for Berea. The sophomore was 1-for-2 with two walks at the plate.

Long was 1-for-3 and also had a walk.

Berea is set to return to action Monday at Jackson County.

Madison Southern 5, Bourbon County 4

The Eagles (4-26) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 5-4 win Thursday at home over Bourbon County.

The Eagles are set to return to action today at home against Boyle County.

Whitley County 8, Model 2

The Patriots suffered an 8-2 loss Thursday on the road at Whitley County.

Model (5-16) had only three hits.

The Patriots are set to return to action today at Rockcastle County.
