L.L. BASEBALL: Richmond All-Stars set for tournament action

BEREA — The Richmond Little League Junior and Senior All-Stars are set to open District 3 Tournament play today at Marshall Field in Richmond.

The Senior All-Stars will take on Anderson County in a best-of-three series to determine which team moves on the state tournament. Richmond and Anderson County are scheduled to play at noon and 6 p.m. today.

If a third game is needed, it will be played at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The District 3 Junior Tournament will feature three teams in a double-elimination format.

The tournament gets under way with Mercer County taking on Anderson County at 9 a.m. today. The winner will take on Richmond at 3 p.m.

The losers of both of today’s game will meet in an elimination game at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday. If another game is needed to determine a champion, it will be played at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The 2014 Junior All-Stars (13-14) include: Nathan Lemieux (American Legion), Evan Courtwright (Bluegrass Transportation), Alex Lazaroff (Flip’s Body Shop), Austin Adams and Keegan Naugle (Madison Dental), Logan Bertrand, Dalton Gregory and Bailey Ratliff (Northside Equipment) and Clay Combs, Eric Courtney and Matthew McQuain (SAE).

The 2014 Senior All-Stars (15-16) include: Justin Ferris, Alex Rogers and Daniel Wilkerson (American Legion), Colton Cobb, Will Daniel, Andrew Gibbons and Hunter Jones (Bluegrass Transportation), Zachary McPeek and Gavin Williams (Madison Dental), Easton Shouse (Northside Equipment) and Adam Ritchey (SAE).
