Local youth golfers had good showings in a couple of summer-tour tournaments this week.
Three golfers — Tristyn Nowlin, Zach Miller and Carter Skipworth — competed in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Wildcat Junior Challenge on the Big Blue course at the University Club in Lexington Wednesday and Thursday.
Miller claimed the top spot in the boys 11-14 division, shooting a pair of 75s for a two day total of six over par 150.
Nowlin placed second in the girls 15-18 division with a nine over par 153, while Skipworth was third in the boys 15-18 division with a five over 149.
Three local golfers, Mason Hamrick, Nick Kubala and Benjamin Hall competed in the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour event Wednesday at the Kearney Hills Golf Links in Lexington.
Hamrick won the boys 10-and-under division with a six over par 42.
In the boys 17-18 division, Kubala finished in a three-way tie for second place with Connor Danis of Mount Sterling and Colin Dupont of Fort Thomas, all with five over par 77s, while Hall was 11th with a two-round total of 111.
