BASEBALL: State All-Star games rained out

RICHMOND — The Richmond Little League’s Junior and Senior All-Star Teams were scheduled to play Monday in the state tournament at North Oldham High School, but rained forced the postponement of both games.

The Richmond Senior All-Stars are set to return to action today against Beaver Creek at 4 p.m.

The Richmond Junior All-Stars are set to return to action today against Paintsville at 11 a.m.

The Junior All-Stars opened play in the state tournament Sunday with an 11-8 win over Hazard. Jeffery Villanacci pitched five innings and earned the win. Richmond scored five times in the first inning and never trailed.

Austin Adams pitched the fifth and sixth innings, before Jackson Hurt and Evan Courtwright came on to pitch in the final inning.

Jason Hurt, Gavin Williams and Villanacci each had two hits. Drew Gibbons, Adams Courtwright, Alec Rogers and Max Purvis each had had a hit.

The Richmond Senior All-Stars opened state tournament play with a 6-4 win over Beaver Creek on Saturday. On Sunday, the All-Stars fell to North Laurel, 8-2.

Will Daniel hit a home run for Richmond and Zachary McPeek started on the mound.
