Richmond Elite brings home AAU state title

RICHMOND — The Richmond Elite won the AAU Division 3 Fifth-Grade State Championship Sunday at KBA in Lexington.

The Elite began play in the tournament on Friday night with a win over Mason County Future and on Saturday wrapped up pool play with a win over the North Kentucky Hurricanes.

The Elite had the top seed as they headed into the elimination portion of the tournament on Sunday. They defeated J-Town Thunder, then picked up a win over the Kentucky Thunder in the semifinals.

In the championship, Richmond Elite took on the Louisville Rising Stars. They won by a score of 58-46 to claim the championship.

The Richmond Elite includes: Braden Ray, Kole Browne, Luke Colman, Zack Holbrook, Trey Skaggs, Josh Barrick, Peyton Dandaneau and Justin Anderson.
