BOWLING: Seniors tourney set for Sunday

RICHMOND — The next monthly seniors tournament will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. All men and women ages 50 or older are invited to participate in this tournament.

The entry fee is $15 to bowl three games. Prize money will be awarded to the three bowlers with the highest scores including handicaps.

Bluegrass Games

The bowling competition at the Bluegrass State Games is scheduled for July 27 and 28 at the Eastland Lanes in Lexington.

There will be singles and doubles events for six age groups ranging from 8-years-old and younger to 55-years and older.

The four bowlers with the highest scores in each group after three games will advance to the medal round and compete for gold, silver and bronze medals.

Entries by mail need to be postmarked by Monday, but on-line entries will be accepted until July 24. Entry forms and details can be found at The entry fee is $25 for one event or $35 for two events.

Come join in the fun and keep bowling as an integral part of the Bluegrass Games.

League highlights

Monday Mixed

Andrew Magedanz set a new high for a series in the mxed league this summer with a 782 score. He also bowled the high game for the night at 279.

Lewis Jones, Jr. bowled the second-best series (661) and Bill Bowles rolled the second-highest game (267).

A 600 series was also bowled by Mark Rogers (658), Gary Cromer (639), Bowles (634), Brandon Simpson (634) and Nate Rosenbauer (605).

Narita Rose led the ladies in the league with a 193 game and 523 series.

The first-place Pittsnogglers team (Zach Niekirk, Matt Cracraft and Tyler and Andrew Magedanz) holds a two-game lead over Git-R-Done (Terry Jackson, John Rice, David Norman and Brandon Simpson) entering the final night of league action on Monday.

These teams will go head-to-head for the title.
