The Madison Central baseball team wrapped up the regular-season with a 4-1 rain-shortened setback to East Jessamine Saturday in Nicholasville.
The game was called in the bottom of the sixth inning.
With the loss, the Indians fall to 19-12 on the season.
East Jessamine got three runs in the second and one more run in the third inning. Central got its only run of the game in the fourth.
Jimmy Wright led the Indians at the plate, going 2-for-3. Kirkland Humphrey started and went two innings and allowed three runs on two hits with three walks
Brady McBride went two innings and allowed one hit, one run and one walk. Bryar Rose pitched the final inning.
In the fourth, Wright singled and Joseph Holbrook reached on a fielder’s choice. Ben Fisher singled and Nick Kavanaugh delivered an RBI single.
Central is set to return to action Monday against Model in the 44th District Tournament at Berea College. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
Berea Community and Madison Southern will play in the other district semifinal game at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Berea.
Lady Indians drop two
The Madison Central softball team finished up the regular season with a pair of losses Saturday in Lexington.
The Lady Indians lost to Boyd County, 9-4, and Henry Clay.
Central is 11-17 on the season.
