H.S. TRACK: Crump sets new school mark in 1,600

Madison Southern All-Comers

Athletes from Madison Southern, Berea Community and Estill County competed in an all-comers meet Tuesday at Madison Southern High School.

Southern dominated the event, taking first place in 28 of the 33 events.

In the girls team competition, Southern had 116 points, easily beating out Berea (47) and Estill (13).

In the boys team competition, Southern finished with 120 points, while Berea was second with 67 points.

Southern took first place in all eight relays events and had seven student-athletes win two individual events each.

MacKenzie Bicknell won the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, Maria Melhuish won the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs, Jessica Scribano took first place in the 300 meter hurdles and the long jump, Alexandra Short took the top spot in the discus and shot put, Timmy Walters was first in the 400 meter dash and the 800 meter run, Michael Rothermel was first in the long jump and triple jump and Derek Howard took first in the discus and shot put.

Other first-place finishers for Southern included: Kate Freel (100 hurdles), MaKenzie Cooper (800 meter dash), Casey Dionne (100 hurdles), Caleb Otterson (300 hurdles), Chad Wagers (200 meter dash) and Drew Taylor (high jump).

Berea Community had five athletes win an individual competition — Maria Rojas (400 meter dash), Hannah Haycraft (high jump), Austin Rose (100 meter dash), Lincoln Satterthwaite (1,600 meter run) and Raymond McKinney (3,200 meter run).
