H.S.TRACK: Central, Southern athletes fare well at Commodore Classic

RICHMOND — Madison Central and Madison Southern track and field athletes posted some impressive results in the Tates Creek Commodore Classic Saturday in Lexington.

In the team competition, Central finished fourth and Southern finished eighth.

Individually, Maryssa Steward had a big day for the Lady Indians, winning both the long jump and triple jump. She posted both a new personal record and a meet record in the long jump.

Kate Freel led the way for the Lady Eagles, notching a second-place finish in the high jump, 6th in the 100 hurdles and 13th in the 200 meter dash.

In the boys team competition, Central finished fourth and Southern finished 10th.

Brennan Fields led the way for Madison Central bringing home top honors in the 3,200 meter run. He also placed second in the 1,600 meter run.

Mason Crump had the Indians only other first place finish, taking the top spot in the 1,600 meter run.
