GOLF: Miller takes first place at Tates Creek

MADISON COUNTY — Richmond’s Zach Miller coasted to an easy victory Tuesday at a Musselman-Dunne Golf Tour event at Tates Creek Golf Course in Lexington.

Miller shot a +1, 73, and won the boys 13-14-year old division by eight strokes. Will Narnice of Frankfort and Evan Davis finished tied for second place at 81, +9.

Miller shot a blistering 34 on his first nine holes, then followed that up by shooting a 39 on his final nine holes.

In the girls 14-15 year-old division, Richmond’s MacKenzie Neal (+11, 84) finished in a tie for second place, just two behind the winner. Leslie Ginter of Lexington took the title with a +9, 82.

Travis Rose, a Nicholasville native who has signed with Eastern Kentucky University, took the title in the championship boys division. Rose tied Devon Bellamy of Lexington at +1 after 18 holes, but won on the second hole of a playoff.

In the college men’s division, Jon Collins of Richmond finished third. He shot a +23, 95.

Also in the championship boys division, Richmond’s Trent Renfro finished eighth (+8, 80) and Grant Willoughby finished 12th (+14, 86).

Also in the boys 13-14 year-old division, Richmond’s Tyler Crafton shot a +19, 91, and finished tied for 12th.

The next Musselman-Dunne Tour event is scheduled for Friday at Old Silo Golf Course in Mt. Sterling.
