KIAC HOOPS: Lady Mountaineers fall, 80-35

BEREA — The Berea College women’s basketball team suffered its third-straight loss Friday, falling at home to the Huntington University (5-0), 80-39.

The Lady Mountaineers got a team-high 10 points from Anna Loveless but  shot just 35 percent as they slipped to 1-3 on the season.

Berea had 28 turnovers and was out-rebounded 48-21 (including 19-3 on the offensive glass). Kaitlynne Smith had seven points and seven rebounds, while Katelyn Butler and Mikola Burns each had six points. Shelby Romine had four points and three rebounds.

Berea trailed just 34-20 at halftime, but shot 29 percent in the second half.

The Lady Moutaineers are set to return to action at 5 p.m. today at the Seabury Center against Bethel College.

The Berea College men’s basketball team is set to face Ohio University-Lancaster at 1 p.m. today at the Seabury Center.
