H.S. FISHING: Southern team qualifies for state competition

RICHMOND — The Madison Southern Bass Fishing team of Bryce Marcum and Brandon Turner qualified for the state competition Saturday.

The duo placed 14th in the Region 2 Tournament held at Harrington Lake. They caught one fish weighing 2 pound, 7 ounces.

Marcum and Turner advance to the state competition, which will be held Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, on Kentucky Lake in Gilbertsville.

Southern’s team of Jacob Walters and Tanner Caudill placed 23rd with one fish weighing 1 pound, 3 ounces.

Larry Freeman and Logan Lakes

Andrew Dever and Ricky Hembree.

Madison Central’s team of Brandon Huntzinger and Wil Blankenship placed 17th with one fish weighing 1 pound, 15 ounces. The team of Lucy Jones and Breanna Jones placed 20th with one fish weighing 1 pound, 7 ounces.
