H.S. BASEBALL: Indians wrap up trip with another win

RICHMOND — The Madison Central baseball team wrapped up a very successful Spring Break trip with a win Friday in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

The Indians (8-3) defeated Fairdale, 5-3, in the final game of the Florida Beach Bash. Central went 4-1 in the week-long event.

The Indians got two runs in the first inning and added three more runs in the third inning. Fairdale got all three of its runs in the fourth inning.

Kyle Kelsey started for the Indians and earned the win. He went 3 2/3 innings, allowing two hits, three runs (one earned), while two strikeouts and one walk.

Trey Sexton pitched 2/3rd of an inning and allowed a walk. Austin Templeton pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up one hit and struck out a batter.

Zach Voll picked up the save, pitching one inning with two strikeouts.

In the first inning, Ben Morin singled and scored. Seth Richardson reached on an error and scored and Joseph Holbrook had an RBI single.

In the third inning, Josh Wright was hit by a pitch and scored. Cory Mullins and Nick Kavanaugh both singled and scored.

Morin was 2-for-3, Kavanaugh was 2-for-4 and Isaac Swafford had a double and an RBI.

Central is set to return to action Tuesday at home against Franklin County.
