BASEBALL: Braves top Marlins for championship

RICHMOND — It took extra innings, but the VFW Braves wrapped up the title of the Richmond Little League’s Major League National Division Tournament.

The Braves defeated the Taylor Sporting Goods Marlins, 13-12, in seven innings Thursday at Lake Reba.

Cameron Craig hit a grand slam for the Marlins.

After the game, two sets of Richmond All-Star teams were announced.

The 2013 Richmond 11-year-old All-Star team includes: Ryan Huntzinger and Jakob Tharp (Central Kentucky Surgery A’s), Titus Haskins and Jacob Hurt (Peoples Bank Rangers), Alex Deaton and Les Shepherd (Kiwanis Red Sox), Kyler Stewart (University Book and Supply Angels), Dalton Kelley (McDonalds Cardinals), Zachary Purvis (Riley Oil Rockies) Caleb Rice (Taylor’s Sporting Goods Marlins) and Bannon Hill (VFW Braves).

The 2013 Richmond 11-12 year-old National Division All-Star team includes: Clay Combs (McDonalds Cardinals), Jacob Beck and Dalton Gregory (Riley Oil Rockies), Brandon Adams, Cameron Craig and Devin Ecklar (Taylor’s Sporting Goods Marlins) and Stephen Golson, Ethan Haun, Matthew McQuain and Ben Snapp (VFW Braves).
