GOLF: Clark tied for lead at Long Run

RICHMOND — A pair of Madison County youth golfers are in the hunt for a title following Thursday’s first round of the Musselman-Dunne Golf Tour Event at Long Run Golf Course in Louisville.

Burgess E. Clark shot a +4, 75, and is tied for first place in the championship boys division. The Richmond native is tied with two other golfers — Brandon Sanner of Shelbyville, and Will Foreman — at the top of the leaderboard.

Richmond’s Zachary Miller is in fifth place after the first round in the boys 13-14 year-old division. Miller shot a +6, 78, and is just four shots behind the leader, Mason Lenhart of Prospect.

The final round is scheduled for today in Louisville.

Brown’s round cut short

Former EKU golfer Brandon Brown was not able to complete his first round Thursday at the U.S. Open at Merion Golf Course in Ardmore, Pa.

Brown, a native of Shelbyville, got through only four holes because of two lengthy weather delays.

Still, he shot -1 and is tied for seventh place after play was suspended because of darkness.

The former Colonel birdie the first hole, then had three-straight pars.

Brown will try to complete his opening round today.
