Richmond All-Stars eliminated

MADISON COUNTY — The Richmond American and Richmond National All-Star teams wrapped up play in the 9-10 year-old District 3 Tournament earlier this week in Lawrenceburg.

Richmond National advanced to the semifinals, but suffered a 9-1 loss to Mercer County on Thursday.

Richmond American did not advance out of pool play. The All-Stars lost to Anderson County 12-11 on Tuesday.

The Richmond National All-Stars fell behind early and couldn’t bounce back Thursday in the semifinals of the District 3 Tournament in Lawrenceburg.

Mercer County scored twice in the first and added another run in the second on the way to a 9-1 win.

Noah Eastham and Braeden Ray both pitched for Richmond National, which finished the tournament with a 2-2 overall record.

Richmond National had only one baserunner through the first three innings — a Jayden Adams walk  in the second inning.

The All-Stars finally broke through in the fourth inning. Zach Cowan reached on an error, Bryce Snapp singled and Selicity Broaddus singled. Snapp stole home and Brycen Gray reached on a walk.

In the fifth, Eastham led-off with a single and Landon Broaddus followed with a double, but Mercer County got the next three batters out, killing the Richmond National rally.

In the sixth, Ray singled and Ethan Bailey drew a walk.

Richmond American trailed big early, but almost pulled off an improbably comeback Tuesday at the District 3 Tournament in Lawrenceburg.

Richmond American scored twice in the bottom of the sixth, yet still came up one run short and fell 12-11 to Anderson County.

In the first, Anderson County scored three runs off Zach Holbrook, but Richmond American quickly tied the game.

Blake Raider had a single and later scored off a double by Nate Haskins, who scored off a double hit by Colton Perkins.

Richmond American brought in Nate Haskins to pitch in the second inning and Anderson County scored three more runs. Richmond brought in Dawson Hall to close out the inning on the mound.

Richmond countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. The All-Stars got a steal of home from Keeton Rice and  a single from Perkins, which scored two runs.

Anderson added three more runs in the third. Richmond American failed to score, despite a double from Sean Lyle.

Anderson County added another run in the fourth, pushing its lead to 10-6.

Colton Perkins came on to pitch in the inning for Richmond American.

Anderson County had just one hit in the top of the fifth, but scored two more runs. Richmond started to battled back by scoring three times in the bottom of the inning.

Perkins reached base and Brady Vaughn had a single as Anderson County walked four batters.

Perkins held Anderson County scoreless in the top of the sixth, then Richmond American scored two more runs.

Perkins singled and Lyle ripped a two-run single.

Holbrook walked twice, Blake Raider walked, Haskins doubled and walked twice, Perkins doubled and had two singles, Brady Vaughn was hit by a pitch and singled, Hall walked twice, Lyle doubled and singled, Dylan Witt walked and Keeton Rice walked three times.
