Register Staff Report

LEXINGTON — Register Staff Reports

The Madison Southern boys soccer team (3-0) picked up its second straight road victory Tuesday, 2-1, over Bourbon County in Paris.

Southern didn’t waste any time jumping on top, getting on the board inside the first minute of the game on a goal by sophomore Maguire Jennings to take a 1-0 lead.

Nick Wallace put the Eagles up 2-0 at the half with a goal late in the half.

The Colonels got their only goal in the final nine minutes of the game.

“We didn’t play very well, but we did hold on for the win,” Southern coach James Ray said. “We scored in the first 30 seconds of the game with about eight passes which looked pretty, then for some reason we kind of went more direct after that.”

The Eagles return to action Thursday in a cross-county battle of unbeaten teams when Model comes to Berea for a 6 p.m. contest.
