KIAC HOOPS: Mountaineers cruise past Crown, 96-57

The Berea College Mountaineers improved to 3-2 on the season Tuesday with an easy 96-57 win over Crown College at Seabury Center.

The game was never in doubt as the Mountaineers jumped out to a quick 14-2 lead which they stretched to 60-23 at the half.

Berea eventually built its lead to 45 points mid-way through the second half and cruised the rest of the way.

Daishon Robinson led five Mountaineers in double figures with a game-high 18 points. Tevin Webster and Seth Beckham had 16 each, while Anthony Myrks had 14 and Aaron Ponder had 13.

Berea shot 51 percent from the floor and 34 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Mountaineers’ pressure defense forced Crown College into 26 turnovers.

Berea returns to action on Friday as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Mountaineers in the first game of the Rainmaker Hospitality Shootout.

The Mountaineers take on Virginia Intermont College at 6 p.m. followed by the Lady Mountaineers against Union College at 8 p.m.
