There will be a scotch doubles tournament at Galaxy on Sunday to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Madison County Relay For Life. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. with the bowling scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
The doubles partners alternate rolling a ball in this format. You can come with a partner or you can be matched with a partner at the tournament.
This event is open to all bowlers. The entry fee is $15. Have fun bowling while supporting a very worthy cause.
Ron Gugel led the members of this league with a 267 game and 705 series on Monday. Aaron Rose rolled the second-best series for league members (700) and Bobby Abrams bowled the second-high game (251).
Substitute John Hickam topped all the league members with a 288 game and 708 series. Hickam recently bowled his first 800 series with a score of 801 in a league at the Southland Lanes in Lexington.
A 600 series was bowled by Shawn Barton (674), Randy Burgess (656), Glenn Masters (653), Matt Wieczorek (633), Abrams (613), Barry Miller (613), Robby Bales (609), Neil Haggard (607), Brandon Simpson (605) and Lewis Jones Jr. (603).
Regina Barton rolled the best women’s scores with a 212 game and 580 series.
Rita Roberts (187) and Narita Rose (180) bowled the high games Tuesday night.
The best series scores were 509 by Carole Bales and 484 by Rose.
Splits were picked up by Betty Lou Masters (5-7), Emma Lee Tate (5-10), Tiara Holt (4-7), Donna Haney (5-10), Beverly Aleshire (6-7-10) and Karen Hendricks (3-10 and 2-7).
Ron Gugel bowled a 267 game and 738 series last week. His series score was a new season high for this league. Gugel raised his league-leading average to 229 through the first eight weeks of the season.
Ronald Richmond rolled the second-best game for the night (255) and Todd Young bowled the second-high series (634).
A 600 series was also rolled by Richmond (631), Ronnie Hurd (630), Ritchey Wilmot (626), Bill Bowles (619), Merle Meade (608), Steve Woltering (603) and substitute Neil Haggard (601).
The league’s ladies were led by Beverly Shearer with a 201 game and 524 series. Tracy Gugel rolled the second-best women’s game (192) and Margaret Tilsley bowled the second-high women’s series (498).
The high series scores last week were 699 by Mark Rogers and 663 by David Norman, while the best games were 254 by Norman and 247 by Rogers.
Lewis Jones Sr. (631) and Carl Daniels (612) also bowled a 600 series.
The top women’s scores were a 189 game and 445 series by Cynthia Eades and a 182 game and 464 series by Julia Landreth.
JoAnn Smith converted a 4-7-10 split.
Carl Daniels (646) and Josh Jackson (609) bowled the top series last week, and they also rolled the top games — 258 by Jackson and 237 by Daniels.
The best women’s scores were a 177 game and 485 series by Tina Hisle and a 166 game and 487 series by Denise Lakner.
The high games Tuesday morning were 188 by Connie Bowlin and 181 by Jan Barnes, while the best series scores were 493 by Bridget Settles and 479 by Sue Hegelmeyer.
Splits were converted by Harriette Williams (2-6-10), Barbara Hendren (4-10), Fanny Rice (5-10) and Sherry Ernst (5-7).
Beverly Shearer led this league on Wednesday morning with a 212 game and 528 series.
Gail Campbell rolled the second-best game (188) and series (521).
Harlan Dyehouse (219) and Donald Spivey (211) bowled the best games on Monday. They also rolled the high series scores with the order reversed — 586 for Spivey and 525 for Dyehouse.
Jessica Bitnar led the women in the league with a 169 game and 455 series. Sara Burgess rolled the second-best women’s game (161) and Christy Andrews recorded the second-high women’s series (444).
Bad Bowlers No-Tap

Gary Cromer (701) and Kyle Shultz (619) bowled the high series scores on Tuesday. They also rolled the high games — 264 for Shultz and 241 for Cromer.
April Brumfield led the ladies with a 200 game and 512 series, followed by Joanna Dickey at 171 and 444.
