Madison Central in state semifinal game

Indians defeat Covington Holmes 65-61; play again Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

LEXINGTON — After defeating Covington Holmes 65-61 in overtime Friday, the Madison Central Indians will take on Hopkinsville at 7:30 p.m. today (Saturday) in a semifinal game of the KHSAA Sweet 16.

Dominique Hawkins had a game-high 31 points and 12 rebounds Saturday, while Ken-Jah Bosley added 23 points in the quarterfinal.

If Central wins tonight, they will be in championship game 2 p.m. Sunday.

Against Holmes, Central trailed by seven points in the second quarter and was down 25-22 at halftime, but rallied behind Hawkins and Bosley.

Hawkins had 24 points and eight rebounds after halftime and Bosley added 12 points in the final two quarters and overtime. Hawkins and Bosley played all 36 minutes and combined to go 17-of-20 from the free throw line.

The Indians shot just 33 percent from the field, but had only two turnovers.

George Walker, Demarcus George and Daniel Parke each had three points for Central, while Hunter Stocker added two points.

James Bolden had a team-best 29 points for Holmes.
