H.S. SWIMMING: Patriots take fourth at Eagle Classic

RICHMOND — Model and Berea Community swimmers competed in the 2013 Scott Eagle Classic at the Taylor Mill Natatorium at Scott High School Jan. 5.

Model finished fourth in the combined team competition with a total of 379 points. The boys team finished 3rd with 276 points, while the girls team finished 7th with 103 points.

Top finishers on the boys team included: James Schwartz — 3rd in the 100 fly and 7th in the 500 free; Jonas Welsing — 4th in the 100 breast and 5th in the 100 free; Jack Miller — 4th in the 100 free and 6th in the 50 free; Sam Shepherd — 5th in the 100 back and 8th in the 100 IM; Cameron Sidon — 6th in the 100 free and 8th in the 500 free; Kody Stroschein — 8th in the 100 back and 15th in the 100 breast; Logan Jackson — 9th in the 100 back and 15th in the 200 free; Devin Dirks — 9th in the 50 free and 11th in the 100 fly and Jackson Parker 10th in the 500 free and 11th in the 200 IM.

The boys also finished 4th in the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free relay events.

Top finishers for the Model girls team included: Lauren Sheperd — 5th inn the 100 back and 8th in the 100 free; Maddy Nasrallah — 9th in the 50 free; Christine Schwartz — 10th in the 500 free and 11th in the 100 free; Lexi Nasrallah — 16th in the 200 free and Kate Walters — 17th in the 100 breast.

The Model girls relay teams finished 7th in the 200 medley and 14th in the 100 free.

Berea Community finished 14th in the combined team total with 62.50 points. The boys finished 14th with 37 points, while the girls team finished with 25.50 points.

Top finishers for the boys include: Taylor Justice — 9th in the 100 breast; Joseph Mecham — 14th in the 100 free and 17th in the 200 IM and Will Spencer — 18th in the 50 free. Top finisher for the girls was Abi Woodie — 13th in the 100 breast and 13th in the 50 free.

Model is hosting the Eastern Kentucky Relays beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sat. Jan. 12 in the Donald G. Combs Natatorium at Alumni Coliseum.
