BOWLING; Christmas tourney a success

Ollie Gasser (255) and Merle Meade (222) bowled the top games in this league last week. They also rolled the best series scores — 578 for Meade and 576 for Gasser.

The best women’s games were 207 by Sandy Reynolds and 197 by Sara Zuercher, while Reynolds (547) and Pat Harris (519) bowled the highest women’s series for the night. Zuercher also rolled a 500 series (501).

Season-best games were bowled by Raymond White (211) and Ritchie Wilmot (200).

Jamie Sowder converted a 2-7 split.

Wednesday Wonders

The three teams which finished at the top in this league as it completed the fall portion of its split season were recognized in last week’s column.

 Down With The Splitz (Michelle Latno, Robert Johnson and Rita and Tyler Morgan) captured the league title.

7&11 (David Sowder, Don L. Johnson, Russell Jones and Lewis Jones Sr.) and Who Cares (Amy Barker, Carl Daniels and Pat and Gary Holtzclaw) finished in a tie for second place.

The individual leaders for the league are noted in today’s column.

Tyler Morgan took the “triple crown” for the men with the best average (213), highest series (729) and top game (276).

Matt Joyce (210), David Norman (207), Lewis Jones Jr. (203) and Bill Bowles (192) compiled the highest averages after Morgan.

The best series scores after Morgan were bowled by Joyce (712), Jones Jr. (697), Norman (683) and Carl Daniels (659).

After Morgan, the high games were rolled by Joyce (268), Jones Jr. (259), Norman (258) and David Kendrick (258).

Miranda Reffitt led the women in all three of the major statistical measures with a 184 average, 654 series and 263 game.

The next-best averages after Reffitt were recorded by Rita Morgan (161), Amy Barker (144), Kymmi Bowles (142) and Patricia Holtzclaw (141).

Morgan (572), JoAnn Smith (510), LuAnn Bryant (507) and Barker (497) completed the list of top five series scores.

The highest games bowled after Reffitt’s were 213 by Morgan, 206 by Holtzclaw, 194 by Smith and 193 by Bryant.

Most improved honors were earned by Pat Holtzclaw for the women and John Rice for the men.

This league will start the second half of its split season on Jan. 9, 2013.
